Almond Mocha, interestingly, is an American spin-off of a latte with added chocolate and almond flavors. Combining all three of these immortal flavors into one drink was brilliant. Coffee, almond, chocolate…….three of the best flavors in the decadent drink world. To me, it’s right up there with fruit and chocolate Dreams of Cacao. I absolutely adore Almond Mochas. I used to purchase them ready-made but only once in a while because of the ingredient list which always threw me off. Refined sugar and artificial flavorings are not a good thing when you’re watching your blood sugar level and trying to eat clean. An unrelenting craving inspired me to create my […]
Almond Sylk (Almond Milk)
Almond milk is a versatile alternative to dairy milk. I say “alternative” but it’s really not. It’s just beautiful milk. It tastes great, is easy to make, and one of the healthiest milks you can drink. Almond milk dates back to the Middle Ages when is it was first used as a safer and more convenient source of milk. I’m always referencing culinary treasures from the past and almond milk is definitely one of them. Today almond milk is lauded more for it’s flavor and nutritional characteristics than its practicality. Almond milk also happens to be low-carb, low-glycemic, and low-calorie which makes it a welcome addition to most any diet. […]
Iced Minty Matcha Green Tea Latte
I’ve always loved green tea lattes and made a point of ordering one whenever they were in sight. It didn’t take me long to realize though that while commercial green tea lattes were convenient they were definitely leaving me agitated and ultimately fatigued. There needed to be a better way to enjoy this exotic drink without compromising the flavor or authenticity and my health. Fresh homemade green tea latte. Just the idea alone made me crave it. Maybe I’d even go father and add in matcha tea. A double dose of a very good thing. As you may already know, commercial green tea lattes often use ingredients that us erstwhile […]
Beta-Carotene Cocktail
Cocktail: “A mixture of agents usually in solution that is taken or used together especially for medical treatment or diagnosis” This tonic was a life saver. Truly. I was overworked, getting ready for an overseas trip, and feeling under the weather…it was my ‘if I don’t do something quick I’ll end up sick’ moment. A serious boost was needed so I turned to my two reliable miracles, carrots and orange juice, knowing the extra doses of vitamin C and beta-carotene would restore my former glowing self. Glow is always the goal. Off to the kitchen I went in my droopy state determined to brighten my dark and gloomy mood with […]
Raspberry Blush Yogurt Smoothie
Why yogurt drinks aren’t more popular is a mystery to me. Yogurt adds great flavor and body, and infuses every drink with vast amounts of nutrients. It’s an easy addition that turned this pretty in pink smoothie into a totally slurpable and forceful drink. Cultured Coconut Yogurt won my heart (and stomach) over in a big way many years ago. It’s even easier to make than dairy yogurt, taking only 3 – 4 hours from start to finish. I can’t imagine any yogurt being easier to make or tasting better than this. You need to experience this wonderful health food to appreciate the unique qualities. My yogurt-making history is long […]
